St. John's is a three stream school, Infants (K-2) in one classroom and Primary (3-4) and (5-6) in other classrooms. We have a Computer Lab outside the classroom area and a separate Creative Arts room.
The School teaching content is from the NSW Board of Studies Curriculum for each subject. The school has developed policies for the implementation of the curriculum and these policies are available from the Principal.
Each year the school has a focus area which is reflected in the purchasing of resources and staff development activities. This ensures all teaching content; resources and policies are reviewed cyclically for each Key Learning Area. In 2008 the school concentrated on Numeracy and Literacy.
Staff members are encouraged to specialise in areas in which they have expertise and/or a major interest. They then teach this subject area across the whole school. This allows students to become familiar with all staff and to have quality instruction. Mrs Deans teaches K-6 Art and Mrs Draper takes K-6 for tutorials in Computer Studies. |
